Archie  Hill


Archie B. Hill, age 97, of North 10th Street, Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on Monday, June 3, 2019 at the Williamsburg Health and Rehab Center. He was born on July 22, 1921 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Samuel Joe and Sarah Katie (Powers) Hill. He was also preceded in death of his wife of 32 years, Agnes (Miller) Hill; sisters, Marie Hill Wright, Joy Hill Early and Imogene Hill Schoch; brother, Carl Ray Hill; and special fishing buddy, Wilbert Early. Archie was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II in the European Theater and was Commander of the Williamsburg National Guard, he retired as a Major. He was an Educator serving as a Teacher, Principal and Director of Pupil Personnel.
He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Hill Shelley (Lester) of Williamsburg; three grandchildren, William Shelley of Sarasota, Florida, Angie Shelley Quigley (Mike) of Lexington, Kentucky and Darin Shelley of Williamsburg; one great grandson, Josh Quigley of Lexington; two brothers, Clyde Hill of Williamsburg and Martin Hill (Kate) of Brookeville, Ohio; sister, Thelma Boone of Dayton, Ohio; special caregivers, nephew, Dennis Early, Wilma Noe and Gail Thomas; and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at Croley Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doyle Lester and the Rev. Max Cox officiating. Following the Service he will be laid to rest in the Corinth Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Williamsburg or Whitley County Little League Baseball.

I am a CNA, that provided care for Archie. Loved him to peices. Never dual moment. Rest easy . I sure miss him daily.
