Betty McWilliams McHargue, age 88, of Barbourville, passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, at her residence.
She was born on Jan. 31, 1929, at Cardinal in Harlan County to the late Joseph and Lelia Yeager McWilliams. On Feb. 14, 1959, she was united in marriage to the late Jerry Samuel McHargue. She was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and antiquing.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: John and Willard McWilliams, two sisters: Mary Lockard and Josephine Mills, two sons in law: Ted Smith and Donnie Elliott, brothers in law: Lee Henson, John Lockard and Mr. Casey. Sister in law; Joyce McWilliams.
Survivors include one son: Mark McHargue and wife Sherri of Barbourville, four daughters: Judy Smith of Independence, Ginger Anderson and husband Todd of Barbourville, Patty Crawford and husband John of Corbin, and Kelly Elliott of Barbourville, one brother: Norris Braxton McWilliams of Cannon, two sisters: Faye Henson of Gray, and Doris Casey of Gridley, California, Grandchildren: Robb, Brent, Chad, Jachin, Cole, Cameron, Josie, and Samuel. Eight great grandchildren and sister in law: Janet McWilliams. Plus many other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Yeager-Powell Cemetery at Bimble with grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Thursday after noon until the hour of service at Hopper Funeral Home.
