Charles H. Jackson, 96, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Corbin Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Corbin, Charles was the son of the late Landon and Rose Carmine Jackson. He had been a truck driver for Dixie Ohio Express and was a Navy veteran of World War II.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his former wife Frances Skinner Jackson; brothers Nolin "Jock" Jackson, and Harold "Cotton" Jackson and wife Jewell; sister Ruth Poole; and great-great-grandson Noah.
Charles is survived by his children: Sherry Waller (Paul) of Louisville, and Charles "Chuck" Jackson (Peiling) of Macon, GA; grandchildren: Tammy Thomas of Louisville, Aimee Hall (Matt) of Macon, GA, and Kim Mathews (Rob) of Newnan, GA; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and brother Clyde "Spike" Jackson, all to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Dr. Max Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery with military graveside honors. Pall Bearers will be Jockey Jackson, Trevor Thomas, Matt Hall, Rob Mathews, Ralph Smith, Jackson Hall, and Reid Mathews.
The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home where messages may be written to the family at vankirkgrisellfuneralhome.com

I loved this man as my papa. In fact he was the only man I ever called papa. My mamaw loved him an he loved her. Both passed with broken hearts from being keep apart. Now they are together again an now noone can stop them from loving one another. RIP Charlie. You have bein missed by many already for years since you got sick an people kept you from the people you loved an that loved you.
