Elmer Johnson, age 88, of Heidrick, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, at Baptist Health Corbin. He was a son of the late James and Bertie Williams Johnson, born to them on Oct. 13, 1928, in Port Homer, Ohio.
Elmer was a well known Knox County retired Bull Dozer Operator, working in Construction for over 30 years; and a Member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church at Bailey Switch, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Hazel Bruner Frederick Johnson; his father and mother: James and Bertie Williams Johnson; his stepmother: Juanita Johnson; his sister: Zelma Eads of Michigan; and by his four brothers: Garrett Johnson of Bailey Switch, Challis Johnson, Denver Johnson, and Claude Johnson all of Ohio.
He is survived by his loving family: his sisters: Bernice Hammons of Bailey Switch, and Marie Smith of Michigan.
His stepchildren: Gail Frederick, and Dennis Frederick and wife, Clara of Heidrick.
His grandson and (Fishing Partner): Brian Frederick and wife, Brittany; and great granddaughter: Charis of Heidrick.
His brothers-in-law: James Guy Tallhammer of Louisville; Clark Bruner and Gary Bruner of Ohio; and Terry Bruner of Corbin; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives, and dear friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Elmer Johnson will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Bargo officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hutchins Cemetery at Bailey Switch.
Those serving as pallbearers will be: Clark Bruner, Terry Bruner, Gary Bruner, Rick Tallhammer, Jeremy King, and Rev. Mike Helton.
The family of Elmer Johnson will receive friends after 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Hopper Funeral Home, and on Wednesday after 10 a.m. and until the hour of service.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
