James E. Smith, 76, of Corbin, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.
James was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving between 1960-1964. Though never married, he loved and took care of his family and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Mayme Engle Smith; brothers, Clyde Smith, Charles Smith, Harold Smith and David Smith; sisters, Lucy Smith and Edna Smith; and nephew, Ron Smith.
James is survived by his brothers, Curt Smith and wife Patsy, Walt Smith and wife Bobbi, and Ralph Smith and wife Donna; niece Ruthie Coleman and husband Jerry; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, including special great-niece Kelly Smith Lowe and husband Patrick.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2017, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Pastor Gary S. Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Locust Grove Cemetery with military graveside honors by Keavy DAV Chapter 158.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
