John Warren Jr. age 82 of Corbin, has completed his earthly Journey. John passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at Baptist Health Corbin. He was a son of the late John Warren and Tressie Smith Warren, born to them on Oct. 27, 1933 at Greenroad, Kentucky.
John was a graduate of Knox Central High School and Union College. He taught math at the Barbourville Independent School. He later was involved mining coal before he founded the Insurance Service Center, an Independent Insurance Agency in Corbin. In 1978, he was president of the Professional Insurance Agents of Kentucky. In 1979-1980 he was awarded Kentucky Insurance Agent of the year. John was a member of the Hugh Harris Lodge #938, Corbin, Kentucky. He was a Master Mason a Shriner and member of the Oleika Shrine Temple, Lexington. He was a charter member of the Tri-County Elks Club and was a 50-year member of the Corbin Lions Club. He was a member of the 1st Battalion 149th Infantry Barbourville. On Jan. 21, 1982, John united in marriage to Terri Bingham.
He is survived by his dear wife of 34 years, Terri, of Corbin; his sisters, Barbara Hale, of South Lyon, Michigan, Pauline Hammons, of Barbourville, and Patsy Fuson and husband, Jim, of Corbin; his brothers, Rufford Warren and wife, Betty, of Naples, Florida, and Randall Warren, of Camden, Ohio; nieces; Sherry Hale Mize and husband, Mike, Wanda Bundy Smith and husband, Bob, Teresa Warren Walker and husband, Burt, Ronda Warren Strunk and husband, Kenny, Lesia Warren Allen and husband, Glen, Dr. Jennifer Fuson Sader and husband, Mostafa, Becky Fuson Holland and husband, Gilbert, Steven Warren and wife, Deborah, and Dr. Jeffery Hammons and wife, Julie; he also leaves several dear great-nieces, nephews, friends and associates to remember.
John was preceded in death by a sister, Prudy Warren Bundy; and by three brothers-in-law; Charlie Bundy, Bill Hale and Dwaine Hammons.
John's family and friends will celebrate his life 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 in 0the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tim H. Mills officiating. Burial will follow in the W.H. Smith Memorial Gardens in Barbourville, with Steven Warren, Dr. Jeffery Hammons, Tucker Holland, Justin Hammons, Rod Bingham, Ricky Bingham and Randy Hall serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Corbin Lions Club. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home after 12 p.m. Saturday until the funeral hour at 2 p.m.
