Luther Pearl Setser, age 76, of Corbin, passed away on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Baptist Health Corbin.
He was born in Moore Hill in Corbin, to the late Garrett and Maude Roark Setser.
Luther attended Syracuse University where he learned the Russian language which he used while stationed in Turkey. He was retired from the US Air Force with just under 25 years of service. In addition to Turkey, he was stationed in Alaska, California, and Germany.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Garrett Setser Jr. and John Setser; sister, Myrtle Setser Rees; and by his former wives, Helga and Pam
He is survived by a brother, Kenneth Setser; two long time friends, Carole Lancaster and Judy Wessendorf; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including niece Teresa Bartlett.
Funeral services for Luther Setser will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with the Rev. Wilmer Evans officiating. Burial will follow in the Setser Cemetery, Moore Hill, Corbin. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #88 of Corbin.

Luther had many stories that will probably be taken with him. Hopefully we can remember and share some of his stories so that we can pass on his memory to the next generation.
