Mildred Arminda "Faye" Hurst Baker, 81, of Covington, formerly of Corbin, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood.
Faye enjoyed quilting, gardening, writing, and loved animals. She was a member of both Park Hill Baptist Church in Corbin, and First Baptist Church in Independence. Faye is preceded in death by her husbands, John Baker and Richard Sowders; brothers, Dewey Hurst, Lloyd Hurst, John Hurst Jr., and James Hurst; sisters, Estie White, Katie Luther, Versie McFarland, Lilly Bowen; stepchildren, Margie Vermillion and Larry Baker. She is survived by her daughters, Delora Motto, Lynita Bachmann, Robin Hollar; sons, Jerry Sowders, Michael Sowders, and Richard Sowders; stepchildren, Linda Jones, Marlene Brown, John Baker; sister, Daisy Patterson; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Burial will follow at Independence Cemetery, Independence.
