Norma Browning Barton, age 85, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at Baptist Health of Corbin.
She was born Oct. 2, 1932, in Pineville, to the late Harold Hugh and Viva (Pruitt) Browning. She was a member of West Corbin Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her spouse Robert L. Barton and brother Harold Dean Browning.
She is survived by four children: Robbie A. Thurmond and husband Robert, Robert L. Barton II and wife Carmeta, Jeff Barton and wife Velma, all of Corbin; and Jamie L. Sears and husband Jeff J., of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Three sisters: Willa L Rains, Lana S. Hammond, Donna J. Rau, six Grandchildren: Jeff Thurmond and wife Kellee, Rebecca Carmichael and husband Samuel, Rex Lee Barton and wife Megan, Kalae Scott and husband Ryan, Jennifer Williams and husband Gordon and Brittany Gambrel and husband Roy plus six great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at West Corbin Baptist Church with Bro. Albert Jones and the Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin, Robert W. Thurmond, Jeff Thurmond, Bob Barton, Rex Barton, Jeff Barton, and Jeff Sears as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Samuel Carmichael, Ryan Scott, Gordon Williams, and Roy Gambrel.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at West Corbin Baptist Church.
