Otto Thompson, age 87, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at the Heritage Nursing home.
He was the son of the late Dewey and Sarah Jane (Belcher) Thompson. Born to them on April 6, 1929 in Bell county.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by, his wife Bulia Faye and one daughter Rose Lee.
Otto was a former employee of Forest Products, and he loved working with wood, and fixing things that didn't work and making them work in his own way.
He is survived by his four children: Lester and Charlene Thompson of Corbin, Loretta Thompson and Manuel of London, Leonard and Vicky Thompson of Corbin, and Ethel Dean and Jim Smith of Barbourville. Five grandchildren: Deanna Rose Taylor, Ronnie Lee Thompson, Karen Thompson, Laura Thompson, and Crystal Patterson; 10 great-grandchildren: Danielle Nicole, Sarah Elizabeth, Ronnie Lee Jr., Madison, Jacob, Grace, Adalyn Mychelle, Megan, Ryan, and Brandon; and one great-great grandchild, Lailee Elizabeth. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. John Carter and the Rev. Mark Hisle officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, with Ronnie Thompson, Adam Patterson, Manuel Brock, Lester Thompson, Burley Blanton and Mark Taylor serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.
O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
