Rev. Glennis's Story
Rev. Glennis "Glen" Ray Shumate, 76, of Corbin went to be with the Lord peacefully at his home on July 4, 2018, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Glen is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jeanette "Bea" Lawson Shumate of Corbin; son, Douglas Shumate and wife Christie of Corbin; "the world's greatest grandchild" Elijah Shumate of Corbin; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Shumate and Shellie Joetta Hash, both of Corbin; a niece whom he loved and raised as a daughter, Julie Moses of Corbin; niece, Krystal Baker and nephew, Joe Hash, who think of him as a second father; beloved nieces, Aron Lundy and Tammy Baker both of Corbin; and many other relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Fannie Shumate, two sisters, three brothers, and daughter, Aron Sinon of Chicago, Illinois.
Glen was a devout Christian and a long-time member of Faith Assembly of God. He enjoyed all things about railroading and baseball. However, his greatest pleasure was being Pappy to Elijah!
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at House-Rawlings Funeral Home, London, KY.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018 at House-Rawlings Funeral Home, London, KY.
Burial will follow at Smith Cemetery, Faber, KY. Pallbearers will be Brad Baker, Elisha Lundy, Luke Lundy, Dustin Moses, Mike Smith, Jason Sebastian, and Stephen Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Baker, Joe Hash, Jim Sebastian, and Bob Stulz.
