Virginia S. Hodges, 79, of Corbin, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2017.
Born Feb. 7, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James Madison Simpson and Ottie Simpson.
A prayer warrior, she attended several churches over the years and enjoyed singing and praying for people. She also had a love for hummingbirds and song birds and a special affection for cats.
In addition to her father and mother, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Simpson; a sister, Anne Inman; and a niece, Norman Jean Adkins.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Charles C. Hodges Jr.; two brothers: Jack Simpson and wife Marie and Robert Simpson and wife Flora; one sister: Opal Miracle; niece, Sandy Keane and husband Wayne; nephew, James Simpson; nephew, David Simpson and wife Linda; and niece, Sherry Simpson. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, and numerous friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec., 21, 2017, in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Bobby Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hart Funeral Home, located at 1011 Master Street in Corbin.
