Wilbert's Story

Wilbert "Bill" McKinney, age 70 of the Buffalo Community, Corbin, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at his home.
He was born Feb. 11, 1947, in Whitley County, to the late John and Leona Faulkner McKinney.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother Milburn McKinney and a sister Phyllis McKinney.
He was a member and deacon of Frankfort Baptist Church and he also served as deacon of Buffalo Baptist Church.
In 1970, Wilbert married the love of his life and best friend Betty. For 47 years they loved and cherished one another's company and time together.
Wilbert loved hunting, fishing and working in the garden with Betty. Together they spent many happy days on the water, woods and their farm. Wilbert retired as a #1 Shop Tech from Whayne Supply after 31 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Betty McKinney of Corbin; one sister, Carrie Huddleston (Rev. Lowell) of Corbin; four brothers, Dan McKinney (Regina) of Corbin, Bob McKinney of Manchester, Tommy McKinney (Karen) of Corbin, and Johnny McKinney (Theresa) of Corbin; mother-in-law, Novella Floyd; special nephews, Matthew McKinney and Jordan Floyd; several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Frankfort Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hodge and the Rev. Matthew McKinney officiating. Interment will be at Ryan Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, until the funeral hour at Frankfort Baptist Church.
Pallbearers: Austin McKinney, Bobby McKinney, John McKinney, Josh McKinney, David Floyd, Joe Floyd, Jordan Floyd and William Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers: Members of Frankfort Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
