Almeda Jones Powers, age 86, of Dayton, Ohio, and formerly of Williamsburg, departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at Saint Joseph of Berea in Berea. She was born on Oct. 9, 1930, in Williamsburg, to the late Robert "Bob" Jones Sr. and Mary (Parker) Jones.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Powers.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Russell Powers, and spouse Linda of Chelsea, Alabama; daughter, Deborah Ann Allen, and spouse John of Richmond; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Gady of Burlington, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at Croley Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Wright officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Whitley Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
