Annette Lowell Siler Hungerford, 87, passed into eternal rest at 12:20 p.m. Dec. 28, 2016, at Four Seasons Retirement Community.
Annette was born in Williamsburg, the daughter of the Honorable Eugene Siler Sr., and Lowell Jones Siler.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy (Jess) White.
Her marriage to Owen D. Hungerford in 1954 lasted for the remainder of her life.
She was survived by a brother, the Honorable Eugene Siler Jr. (Christine) of Williamsburg, and a sister Carolyn Siler of Louisville. They were blessed with two children, Dr. Emily Giesel (John) of Carmel, Indiana, David Hungerford (Joy) of New Holland, Pennsylvania, and seven grandchildren: Henry Giesel, Nancy Giesel, Sarah Giesel, Laura (Colton) Henry, Adam Hungerford, Aaron Hungerford and Rachel Hungerford.
Annette was a lifelong student of music and an accomplished singer and classically trained pianist. She graduated from the University of Kentucky, summa cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board. She received a Master's in Education from Indiana University. She taught Mathematics in public schools in Kingsport, Tennessee; Wilmington, Ohio; and Columbus, Indiana as well as IUPUC. She was chairperson of the Math Department of Columbus North High School. She played piano in public concerts and loved the music of Chopin, Schumann, Beethoven and Brahms. She also sang soprano in choirs and choruses her entire life. She was a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority at UK and PSI IOTA XI in Columbus. Additionally, she was a member of the Women's Athletic Association.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at the Highland Cemetery with Wally Boyd officiating.
