Clarence "Shorty" Eastridge, age 98, passed away on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, in Leesburg, Florida, surrounded by his family.
Formerly of Milford, Ohio, and Corbin, he was the devoted husband of Ethel Eastridge for over 76 years. Loving father and father-in-law of Patty and Gary Teague, Leesburg, Florida, and Judy and Willie Cobb, of Longboat Key, Florida. Cherished Pappa of five grandchildren, Tracy (Leigh) Teague, Lori (Todd) Smith, Brady (Rachel) Teague, Travis (Kara) Cobb, and Jodi (Brad) Duncan. Adoring great-grandfather of 13 great-grandchildren, Sam & Laura Teague, Logan & Lindsay Smith, Davis, Hannah & Halle Teague, Kennedy, Caraline & Will Cobb, and Max, Jack & Charlie Duncan. Caring uncle of Henry Williams and Paula Nickell. Also survived by a host of cousins and friends. Preceded in death by parents Tom & Laura Eastridge, one infant son, Clarence David and 1 sister, Jewell Williams.
Clarence retired from Roadway Trucking in 1980 and enjoyed over 35 years in Florida with his beloved Ethel Lee. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Cincinnati Reds and Kentucky Wildcats. He also loved to fish and passed these passions onto his children and grandchildren. He was a 68 year member of The Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge #751, longtime Teamster and also a member of the First Baptist Church Leesburg, FL.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Joe Eaton officiating. Visitation will be from 11-12:30, immediately preceding the service, with Masonic Funeral Service at 12:30 p.m.
Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Corbin with pallbearers being Tracy Teague, Brady Teague, Travis Cobb, Sam Teague, Todd Smith and Brad Duncan. Henry Williams and Dwayne Nickell will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778; or First Baptist Church of Leesburg, 220 N. 13th Street, Leesburg, FL 34748.
