Frank "Sonny" King, Jr., 75, of Corbin, passed away Thursday morning, Feb. 16, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a devoted Christian and a hard-working man who loved his Lord, church, and his family. He was an active member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Corbin, and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Frank was preceded in death by his father, Frank H. King Sr., mother, Nola Morgan King, daughter, Shawna M. Garland, and by two sisters, Betty Lou Karr and Nancy J. King.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Sears King; children, James Thompson and wife Sandra, Brian Atchison and wife Shirley, Chris King and wife Missy, Lisa Farmer, and Willie Nashwinter; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and by many other family and friends, including special lifelong friends, Bob Taylor and Lavina Johnson.
Funeral services for Frank Sonny King Jr. will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Mayle and the Rev. Vernon Morris officiating.
Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery in Corbin with military honors.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday and 12-1 p.m. Monday at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Corbin.
