Joseph H. "Bo" Pace, 86, of Corbin, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at The Heritage.
Born in Corbin, he was the son of the late Felix Pace and Mattie Yeager Pace. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Maurice Pace and his wife Barbara; sister Geneva Pace; sister-in-law Carol Pace; and lifelong best friend Bill Woods.
Bo had worked as a rural mail carrier, was a U.S. Air Force veteran, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Corbin. An expert wood carver, he made plaques for family and friends to commemorate special events. He enjoyed gardening and floral arranging, had his private pilot's license, was an avid hunter, but his greatest gift was his love for other people, especially children. He was a loyal supporter of the Corbin High School Redhound football team and for many years he drove the team bus. He was inducted into the Varsity Club Hall of Fame for his service.
He is survived by his wife Janet Leake Pace; son Kevin Pace and very special daughter-in-law Sherry; granddaughter Lindsay Pace Lowe and husband Daniel; two precious great-grandchildren Jackson and Harrison Lowe; siblings Alma Lundy, Charles Pace, Clarence Pace and wife Marlene, Malcolm Pace and wife Sharon, James Pace, and Jerry Pace and wife Kim; sister-in-law Linda Leake Wilson; many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends including special friends in Ontario, Canada.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Austin Carty, Rev. Alex Lockridge, and Bro. Ernie Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery with nephews serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
The Pace family thanks the staff of The Heritage for their care and concern for Bo.
