Peggy Jo Hoover, 74, formerly of Woodbine, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017 at the Golden Living Center in Newburgh, Indiana.
She was born May 29, 1942 in Blue Diamond, KY to the late Joe Gaylor and Kathleen (Perkins) Gaylor. Peggy was of the Baptist faith.
During her teen years she lived in Kingsport, TN and received her Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, TN, and her Masters degree from the Kent School of Social Work University of Louisville. In the late l960s, she worked as a Social Worker in the Department of Social Welfare in Evansville, IN.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Perkins of Woodbine, father ,Joe Gaylor of Blue Diamond, her mother, Kathleen Perkins Gaylor Denny, and stepfather, Ernest Denny.
She is survived by her half-sister Linda DeHart and husband David of Aberdeen, MD; two daughters, Jennifer Hoover and Kim Haas, of Evansville; two grandsons, Nicholas and Justin, of Evansville, and one great-grandson, of Evansville, and her former husband, Ernest Hoover. Several cousins, two aunts, one uncle and two nephews also mourn her passing.
Graveside services for Peggy Jo Hoover will be 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, 2016 in the Cumberland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lily. Officiating will be the Rev. Ronnie Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the M. S. Society.
O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
