Richard Luther Dewees, age 85 of Corbin, went to be with his Lord on Sunday May 7, 2017.
He was the son of the late Lillie Taylor Dewees and Chester Artur Dewees; in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Chad Dewees;
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Janrose Wells Dewees; children; Richard Dewees; Carolyn (Glenn) Harris; Perry (Debbie) Dewees; and Greg (Anita) Dewees; eight grandchildren; Wesley (Rachel) Dewees; Christin (Salvador) Garcia, Misti (Shane) Strunk; Gregory (Lynn) Dewees; Kasey (Tyler) Napier; Doug Harris; Joey (Rachel) Harris; Travis (Ashley) Harris; and by 13 great-grandchildren.
He was a faithful member and chairman of the deacons at Faith Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, and was very active within the Church. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Farming was his passion which he spent his whole life fulfilling. He retired from the US Postal Service. He leaves a legacy that will never be forgotten, and his impact on so many people's lives will endure forever.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday May 10, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church in Corbin with the Rev. Bennie Bush officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday at 1pm for the family and from 2-4 p.m. for the public.
Burial will follow in the McHargue Cemetery in Laurel County with military honors by the Keavy DAV. Pall Bearers will be Wesley Dewees, Salvador Garcia, Shane Strunk, Gregory Dewees, Tyler Napier, and Dalton Hunt.
