Ruby Watkins Parker Craig, age 97, of Corbin, passed away on Tuesday Aug. 23, 2016, at her home.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1918, in Fariston, to the late Jake and Samantha Edwards Watkins.
Ruby was a retired teacher from Laurel County Schools, a member of First Baptist Church in Corbin, and an avid gardener.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Ray Parker and William Fayette Craig; Daughter, Jean Parker Younce; son-in- law, Lee Younce; great-grandson Seth Madden; siblings, Earl Watkins, Mark Watkins, Albert Watkins, Anna Lee Parker, Lena Asher Jones, and Edna Evans Fetter.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Joyce Parker; granddaughter, Anne Younce Madden (Joe); grandson, Ed Younce (James); great-granddaughter, Leah Madden and great-grandson, Nathan Madden; brothers, Jakie Ray Watkins (Joan), and Billy Russell Watkins (Barb).
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers, Christine Singleton, Renee Jones, Missy Trosper, Joyce Brown, and Yolanda Baker.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, 607 Master Street, Corbin; and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of her funeral at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church 401 N. Laurel Avenue, Corbin; with the Rev. Austin Carty and the Rev. Paul Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens, in Lily.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knox-Whitley Animal Shelter, 66 Busy Lane, Corbin, KY 40701 or to First Baptist Church, 401 N. Laurel Avenue, Corbin.
