Scott Hammons, age 46, of Corbin, passed away Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, at Baptist Health Corbin. He was the son of Roy Hammons and Jenny (Tankersley) Walter, born to them on Feb. 19, 1970, in Corbin.
He was of the Baptist faith, an Army veteran, a member of the Hugh Harris Lodge #938, and was a master electrician for CSX railroad.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents Carl and Faye Tankersley, and Clyde and Clara Hammons.
Survivors include his wife Katie Hammons of Corbin, his parents Roy Hammons of Corbin, and Jenny Walter and husband Fred of Healdsburg, California, three daughters: Jenny Ann Hammons, Bethany Cheyenne Smith and Macy Ann Hammons all of Corbin, one brother Todd Hammons of San Francisco, California, uncles: Bruce Tankersley, and Roger Hammons both of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a great-uncle Glenn Sasser of Corbin. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Steven Jett and Bro. Bill Wilder officiating. Burial will follow, with Jason Curry, Kevin Hudgin, Chuck Felts, David Cornett, John Goins and Milton Storms serving as pallbearers.
Masonic services will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at 7 p.m. in the O'Neil -Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.
Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 at O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home Chapel.
O'Neil-Lawson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
