Mrs. Wanda Bond Hammons, 78, of Barbourville, was born in Harlan, KY on June 29, 1938 to the late Acosta Bond and Lucille Fultz Bond Harber, and departed this life on March 1, 2017 in the Barbourville ARH Hospital.
She was of the Holiness Faith and enjoyed going to flea markets, taking rides in the country, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. On January 14, 1962 she was united in marriage to Ray Hammons and to this union 6 children were born.
In addition to her parents: Acosta Bond and Lucille Fultz Bond Harber; her step-father: Roy Harber; her husband: Ray Hammons; a son: Dennis Ray Hammons; and a sister: Josephine "Jo" Howard, preceded her in death.
Wanda is survived by her loving children, Teresa Russ Davis and husband Lonnie, of Barbourville, Roy Harber and wife Jennifer, Robert Hammons, and Scotty Hammons, all of Heidrick, and Patricia Rice and husband Steve, of Hinkle; special nephew, Kenneth Howard and wife Rita, of Barbourville; special sister-in-law, Eva Hammons, of Artemus; and a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the Barbourville Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Leslie Broughton officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosenwald Cemetery with Timothy Russ, Robert Hammons, Chase Vetor, Stevie Rice, Chandler Harber, Mikey Jackson, Danny Hammons, and Junior Ray Jackson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Clinton Jackson and the Barbourville ARH ER and ICU nurses.
