Carl Dallas Gaines was born January 26, 1940 in Laurel County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Ollie Jefferies and Allen Gaines, Sr. He was united in marriage to Wilma Sawyers Gaines who survives in London, Kentucky.

He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren:

His daughter Carla Gaines Basile and her husband Tom, grandchildren, Jake Basile and wife Chessie, great grandchildren, Lou and Burke Basile, and granddaughter, Grace Basile of Atlanta, Georgia.

His daughter Tammy Gaines Elza and her husband Boyce, granddaughter Lindsey Elza Eubanks and husband Gara of London, Kentucky.

His daughter Jennifer Sawyers Morris and husband Billy, granddaughter Jessica Minton Hillard and husband Danny, great granddaughter Braylee Hillard of Georgetown, Kentucky; grandson Jonathon Minton and wife Elizabeth of Somerset, Kentucky; grandson, Zack Morris and wife Jordan; great grandchildren, Carson and Laney Morris of Georgetown, Kentucky.

His son, Jeff Gaines and wife Sheila of London, Kentucky; granddaughter, Tara Baird and husband Dean, great grandchildren Dean Baird, Jr. and Elizabeth Baird of Eagan, Tennessee; granddaughter Jody Bunch and husband Nicholas, great grandson Benjamin Bunch of Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Carl is also survived by a host of family and friends to mourn his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings, June White, Allen Gaines, Jr., and Hazel Gaines Hodges; and his grandson, Matthew Elza.

Carl was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Laurel Heights where he worked as a maintenance director. Carl enjoyed camping, music, and spending time with his family.

Carl Dallas Gaines departed this life Sunday, June 26, 2022 being 82 years and 5 months of age. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and his beloved dog, Buddy.

Funeral services for Carl Dallas Gaines will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2022 beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of House-Rawlings Funeral Home with Brother B. J. McKinney and Dan Eubanks officiating. Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, Kentucky. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 beginning at 6:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. The family has entrusted House-Rawlings Funeral Home with the arrangements.
