Philip Gregory Obituary
Philip Elvin Gregory, age 86, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Baptist Regional Medical Center, Corbin, Kentucky.
He was born in Lily, Kentucky on November 13, 1938, to the late Elvin H. Gregory and Beulah E. Gregory.
Philip is preceded in death by his loving wife Jo Anne Gregory, brothers Roger, Ralph, and Terry Gregory, and a brother-in-law Robert Prewitt.
He is survived by his daughters Joni Farmer (Todd), Kristi Botner (Jody), grandsons Blake Botner, Quinton Botner, Clay Botner, sisters, Brenda Tye and Cheryl Ellis, sister in law, Mitzi Reeves (Willard), brother-in-law Don Byrd (Lisa), sister-in-law, Debbie Prewitt (the late Robert Prewitt), special sister-in-law, Ann Longworth and special friend "his girl", Gina Valentine. He is also survived by a host of other family members and friends whom he loved deeply.
Philip served as a Corbin City Commissioner from 1999 to 2012. He was a member of the 100th Division Army Reserves for 6 years. He served as treasurer of the Redhound Varsity Club for 40 years. He was a 52-year member of Hugh Harris Lodge of Corbin and member of Corbin Shrine Club. Phil was a coach and referee for several Optimist Club teams in Corbin. He worked in the banking industry for over 40 years. He was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church. Philip was well known in the community for his hard work, dedication, honesty, and lifetime service to others.
Philip was loved by everyone who knew him, and he will be missed tremendously by his family and friends.
Visitation for Phil will be held at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from the 1 o'clock hour to 3 p.m. With a Funeral service to follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Josh Politt officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens with Blake Botner, Quinton Botner, Clayton Botner, Brian Reeves, Timothy Prewitt, Travis Prewitt, Tyler Prewitt, Roger Ladd Gregory, and Michael Tye serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Redhound Varsity Club or Central Baptist.
